Unit ReflectionThe lessons related to the big idea in different ways. The iMovie that my group and I did showed us the relationship between students and teachers. We used an iMovie and talked about language arts and art. We made our student draw a family book so she was using many different colors as well as writing about the members of her family. This is a good representation of how art and language arts can be related. Another thing that we did was to cut out pieces of paper with a background and glue it to a postcard. Then we passed the card to the right and put smaller pieces that we cut out onto the other people’s cards. The relationship that this showed was how the pieces represented and related to the picture. In some of them, they don’t necessarily make sense, like I have a snowman eating a hamburger off of a table under a tree at a pond. This was confusing to me but I found that if I was to do something that involved a snowman, I could show him eating a hamburger. I would integrate art using these lessons by having my students make an iMovie and make a fun video like we did. This gives the students opportunities to show their creative side and to incorporate technology. Technology is such a large part of our lives now that children seem to learn better whenever technology is incorporated. I would also use the other craft we did so that students can think of how the random pictures can kind of make up a story to show relationships between the pictures.
